RentBestie is an anime companion app with a language model inside it. Swipe through thousands of original illustrated characters, open a profile, and start talking. Every reply is written on your device — no account, no servers, no connection needed.
A deck of 2,173 illustrated companions, each with a home town, a job, a sense of humour and a set of things she is into. Swipe right on the ones you like, left on the ones you don't. Anyone you keep turns up under Interested, waiting for you to say hi.
Changed your mind? Nothing is lost. Everyone you passed on sits in a Not interested list you can take them back from at any time.
Witch, samurai, shrine maiden, cyberpunk, gamer, maid, detective, idol, patissier, mechanic, vampire, magical girl — thirty-six aesthetics in all, each illustrated in the same hand so the deck holds together while every card still surprises you.

Each companion's profile is what the model is briefed on — so what you read on her profile is what she knows about herself. Ask her about her weekend and she will answer with hers. She remembers the last few messages, so a conversation holds together.
She is also small enough to run on a phone, which means she will sometimes be wrong, repeat herself or make something up. The app says so plainly rather than pretending otherwise.
The character artwork is bundled inside the app and is never written to your photo library, so nothing from RentBestie shows up in your gallery.
Every companion is invented for this app. The artwork is AI-generated and depicts no real person, and no character is taken from, based on or named after any existing anime, manga, game or series. The names, ages, home towns and life stories are made up, and the places they come from do not exist.
Every character is an adult. RentBestie is a companionship app, not a service for meeting real people, and it is intended for adults.
Dark by default, with a light theme if you prefer. Full Dynamic Type support and VoiceOver labels throughout. No pop-ups, no streaks, no energy meters, no upsell.
iPhone iOS 16.4 or later ~1.8 GB free space No internet required
The app is large because the model and every illustration ship inside it. That is the trade: a bigger download once, and then it simply works, offline, forever, without an account.
